The Mid North Christian College Association has been formed by Christian parents who desire education which incorporates Christian values and principles for their children in a caring and disciplined environment with a high academic standard.

Educational Vision for 2017

We have taken from Scripture the Apostle Paul’s urging to Titus:

"In the same way, encourage the young men to live wisely.  And you yourself must be an example to them by doing good works of every kind. Let everything you do reflect the integrity and seriousness of your teaching.  Teach the truth so that your teaching can’t be criticized. Then those who oppose us will be ashamed and have nothing bad to say about us." (Titus 6:8 NLT)

We therefore commit to encouraging wise living, modelling good works, and teaching truth.

We believe our whole school approaches for 2017 should focus on restoration; with particular regard to purpose, principles, and people.

Purpose – We are made in God’s image, we have a design for life, and we pattern our teaching on Gospel Spirituality; Godly thinking that makes a difference. We know what we are doing and why, and we plan accordingly. We seek to restore a healthy sense of vision and purpose.
Principles – We conduct ourselves not with relative values that are socially constructed, but with principles of truth that are drawn from the character and nature of God himself. This is also what we teach our students to aspire to. Our policies and procedures flow from these principles. We seek to restore relationship, and commit to healthy ways of communicating and resolving differences; and regain a proper perspective about how we live.
Practices –We seek to restore an understanding of what it means to be educated; to live virtuously, think critically, write effectively, speak persuasively, problem-solve, analyse, and prepare well-constructed arguments. To develop a Bible shaped perspective on life, and apply it consistently and well to every arena of life.
Faithful to God’s Truth Protected by Policies Served by Leaders Collaborating to improve Responsible for Learning Accountable to Legislation
This means a commitment to intentionally thinking deeply about our own worldview biases, and recognising the inherent biases in novels, curricula, text books, and our own training and cultural influences. This means a commitment to prescribing, implementing and reviewing policies that uphold Godly character and Biblical principles that flow from our identity as made in the image of God, that are efficient and fair, making good use of available technology This means a commitment to be served by leaders of integrity; acting with permission and respect under the authority of the Board under God. This means a commitment to continuous improvement by collaborating in teams that embrace feedback and growth as a community of faith and educational practise. This means a commitment for all teachers to take responsibility for the learning, behaviour, and differentiation needs of all the students for which they have responsibility; and to work actively and purposefully for restoration and improvement. This means a commitment to honour the legislative requirements of authorities, to the extent that they do not require us to dishonour our conscience before God..
Staff will be inspired with high quality thinking to help teachers connect faith, culture and curriculum in rich, meaningful ways; and to be alert to the way secularism, pluralism and relativism influence our beliefs and therefore our teaching approaches. We will develop a more systematic approach to policy development and implementation, and build shared understanding and ownership. We will develop a culture of servant – hearted leadership that is well equipped and supported to develop and equip teachers. We will streamline teacher professional learning to require explicit planning, and prioritise a collaborative team approach to build capacity, confidence, and competence in a healthy trust environment. In that healthy context, we require teachers to take responsibility for the students in their care, and adopt core responsibility for relationship between home and school. Ensure awareness of, and compliance with State and Federal legislation, and work with regulatory authorities to find respectful ways to uphold our priority to honour God first, and provide safe, high quality programs of instruction.
